Coleman Model L327

Double Mantle Quick Lite Lantern

Born Prior to 1922

Condition: VG+

There is a bit of road rash on the fount--two fairly large dings on the backside and one smaller one towards the front, left of the valve wheel. The fount also has a bit of fogging and scuffing and the normal spotting. Once you get past that, it's all pretty nice for 100+. This lantern was not machine buffed.

A previous owner took what appears to be a hacksaw and cut a slot in the top of the beautiful enclosed ball nut. Your guess is as good as mine...

The lantern did not come to me with a globe, so I added a rather pricey but very special one. What the new owner will receive is a special-order chimney from our friends at the Michigan Mica Factory. Notice that is does not look new like a standard repop globe--rather, it looks like one that has also been around for over a hundred years. Thank you brother Rob, it looks great and this old L327 is worthy.

One thing that I removed from the lantern (but will ship to new owner) is the stupid bicycle tire pump fitting soldered to the filler cap. I like pressurizing things the old fashioned way, NOT with an air compressor. But, I'll add it in case you like to do that.

Lantern was disassembled and cleaned. It received a new valve stem packing and filler cap/air stem. The R55 that was on it is in pretty good shape and is functioning well.

This is a pre-1922 model featuring that enclosed ball nut, "A" valve wheel and an un-embossed ventilator. The early baffle does not have air holes and both vertical tabs that hold the figure-8 are undamaged.

There aren't that many of these older Quick Lites left. Don't miss out.

Asking price is $135.00 plus insured shipping.
