"Black Band" Single Mantle Lantern

Oh boy, a drop-dead gorgeous Black Band. Cosmetic issues are limited to 1) a few darkened spots in the red paint, along with a light rubbing and scuffing; 2) some scratching on the frame rest paint, and 3) a chip in the ventilator enamel that was painted over a pinkish-red by a previous owner.

The inside of the fount was Evap'd and the outside was washed and waxed. The frame rest (very obviously gloss black) was wiped down with Windex, along with the frame which is very obviously semi-gloss black. Pretty amazing that it is so clean and didn't require any touch-up.

I'm not sure but I think a collector might have owned it previously. I say this only because of the odd paint on the ventilator's enamel chip. I'm not sure that a "user" of lanterns would be concerned with it. Please note that I did NOT put the ventilator on the lantern while it was under test because we know what will happen to the paint.

New stem packing and filler cap gasket, generator and check valve were cleaned and reused. Check valve also received a new gasket. Although I forgot to add a photo of this old girl burning, it does so and does it very well.

Box is in pretty good shape although one of the flaps is long gone. Inside this box is a lot of fun stuff, to include the original receipt. Can't tell the date but it appears that this Black Band retailed for under $12 back in the day...

This is a beautiful unmolested lantern that would look GREAT in your collection. Trust me, I'm a professional.
