Original US Patent and Trademark Office filings by The Coleman Company offer in insight into the design, function and history of the subject inventions. And they almost always provide beautiful hand-made cross-sectional views of the invention.
I have listed all the patents I could find for vintage Coleman® products to include lamps, lanterns, stoves, irons, heaters and even electric coffee pots. Many of the patents are for individual parts and pieces, and one are two are purely for a special design.
