Coleman Model 228D

Double Mantle Lantern

Born second half 1947

Condition: Excellent

Holy cow did this one turn out pretty. It got a good rubbing and cleaning, the only part that saw a buffing wheel was the frame rest. The frame's coating has worn in spots and it looks awesome. Sunshine logo on globe is very clear and bright. I can't find any chips in the ventilator--there is one area that is missing a very small piece of enamel but it appears to be factory. I think this is the prettiest D I've ever seen that wasn't NIB.

Lantern was rebuilt with a new valve stem packing and filler cap gasket, as always. Generator rebuilt and reused. Check valve cleaned and reinstalled with a gasket. Burns great.

Box is toast but will be included as it hold a piece of the lantern's history. One top flap is marked "Display" and it came from Portland, OR. It is all here but there is a opened corner and there is duct tape on the bottom.

Being a display piece, it was used as eye candy. Seventy-nine years later, it is still eye candy. Wow.

Asking price is $250 plus insured shipping.

This item is boxed and ready to ship. It weighs 6.75lbs and measures 19"x11"x11". Use those measurements and a shipping zip code of 83858 at the USPS or UPS or FedEx website for an estimate. I use Pirate Ship to save on shipping costs and do not charge any shipping or handling fees.

First come, first served. No warranty, sold as-is.
